On June 26, 2020, the INPI published its 2019 classification

The Groupe is back to the 1st place in the ranking of the INPI - Institut National de la Propriété Industrielle with 1183 patent publications in 2019 compared to 1074 in 2018 to which should be added publications in other countries such as Germany or China.

This continuous targeted protection activity is not only carried out in France but also in the main countries where the Group conducts its R&D business, in Europe, Asia and America. We protect our innovations by using international patent filings, which leads us to manage a portfolio of tens of thousands of securities that we keep stable.

Our approach has been the same for many years: to efficiently protect the strategic innovations developed by the various R&D centers around the world in order to create value for the Group and to recognize the talent of the women and men in the Group who designed them.

These innovations are in line with the ambition of the Plan 'Push to Pass' by meeting our customers' expectations in terms of sustainable and responsible mobility needs. They thus accompany the societal changes that directly impact the automotive world: the energy transition, growing urbanization, digital and hyper-connectivity, globalization, mobility and the evolution of uses. Two main themes stand out:

- The reduction of CO2 emissions, with ever more environmentally friendly cars, illustrated by the new vehicles , Citroën Ami, DS 3 CROSSBACK E-TENSE, Peugeot e-208, e-2008, Opel Corsa-e,… developed on modular, multi-energy, platforms with a focus on hybrid or fully electric powertrains (in particular with innovations in electric motors, batteries and electrified transmissions), while continuing to reduce fuel consumption of internal combustion engines.

- Connectivity and driving aids for ever-smartercars, aimed at increasing vehicle safety and autonomy range, with the development of new automated driving functions or remote controls (battery charge status, charge programming, cabin thermal preconditioning, etc.) or even an intelligent combination around connectivity and dashboard design.

This result reflects the capacity for innovation and creativity of the men and women of Groupe PSA and also an approach of permanent value creation
