On December 3, POSCO (CEO Jeong-Woo Choi) held the '2019 POSCO Corporate Citizenship Achievement Report' at the POSCO Center with the topic, 'Corporate, Becomes Citizen'.

More than 1,000 people attended the event - including group employees, heads of government agencies, SK board of directors, outside specialists and organizations, the general public, and so on. This event was to share the achievements of the past year and a half, - since POSCO CEO Jeong-Woo Choi had declared 'Corporate Citizenship' as POSCO management philosophy at his inauguration in July last year - and also to pledge commitment for implementation.

The event had various programs and attractions to see and participate in, drawing favorable responses from participants. POSCO announced its commitment to implement six major projects, and organized panel discussions and conferences. A corporate citizenship exhibition was set up along with a POSCO corporate citizenship achievement booth, a venture platform booth, a small market, and busking performance.

'This year, we established the foundations for corporate citizenship by declaring the 'POSCO Charter for Corporate Citizenship'. From next year, we will focus on putting the charter into real practice and producing significant achievements', said POSCO CEO Jeong-Woo Choi during his opening speech. He also added, 'POSCO will make a better world through corporate citizenship, and ultimately take its place as a 'Global Good Citizen' by increasing corporate value and competitiveness.'

SK Chairman Tae-Won Chey - who is on the same grounds with POSCO, on creating the social value of corporates - made a special lecture titled 'Social Value and the Future of Corporate Citizenship'.

Chairman Chey said, 'As a corporate citizen, a company must actively participate in resolving social problems.' He added, 'With the use of new technology, it is possible to solve social problems and bring innovation at the same time. To enhance social value, companies should share their technologies and infrastructure with society, and cooperate with various stakeholders.'

POSCO CEO Jeong-Woo Choi expressed his thanks to SK Chairman Tae-Won Chey for attending the event. 'POSCO and SK could stand here together today since we share the same purpose regarding the role of corporates in society.', said CEO Choi. He stated, 'If the efforts of POSCO and SK are combined, I believe that corporate citizenship will amplify beyond the corporate level and into an innovative movement that creates a better society.'

Both CEOs participated in the lighting ceremony of the POSCO Center, along with major guests. They lighted up a sculpture and a tree that symbolizes the commitment of POSCO's philosophy - Corporate Citizenship: Building a Better Future Together.

The event also included a pledge to implement six major corporate citizenship projects, a panel discussion, and a presentation of an excellent corporate citizenship case.

POSCO announced its six major corporate citizenship projects - △ Shared Growth △ Youth employment support, △ Venture platform establishment, △ Presenting a role model to resolve low birth rate, △ Creating a marine forest, △Becoming a good global citizen. Multiple key guests involved in each project attended and showed their support.

Broadcaster Seo-Kyung Seok was the host for the panel discussion titled 'Corporate Citizenship, Value of the Era'. KAIST Professor Ji-Hwan Lee, Chairman Sun-Wook Kim of POSCO TJ Park Foundation, Social Enterprise CEO Alberto Mondi, and POSCO Head of Corporate Citizenship Office Won-Joon Yang attended the discussion. The discussion enabled an easier approach to corporate citizenship, which helped in better understanding the subject.

Other programs were held in other venues of the POSCO Center - such as the Art Hall and the POSCO Art Museum - in the form of lectures, discussions, and so on.

Chairman Soo-Geun Kwak of the POSCO Corporate Citizenship Committee hosted a discussion on 'Shared Growth' achievement and its development directions at the Art Hall, whereas Professor Ho-Keun Song of POSTECH Corporate Citizenship Research Institute gave a lecture on corporate and citizenship at the POSCO Art Museum.

There were also other attractions to visit like the corporate citizen booth of POSCO and its affiliates, a corporate citizen library with books regarding corporate citizens, Cafe Oasia which is run by immigrant women, and a busking performance by employees of the first POSCO social enterprise, 'POSCO HUMANS'. Other programs included a corporate citizenship shopper bag DIY, and the POSCO cooking volunteer club giving away complimentary snacks.
