COLUMBUS, OH, November 15, 2018
- U.S. Army Specialist Daus Hempker received the keys to his new mortgage-free and fully-furnished Centex home in the Hazelwood community in Pataskala, Ohio. The new home was donated through PulteGroup's Built to Honor program, which provides the gift of a new home to wounded veterans and their families across the country.

Surprised in May with the news that he was selected to receive a new home, Spc. Hempker and his fiancée Jessie Alianiello were welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd of well-wishers in a celebratory procession led by the Ohio Patriot Guard to see their new home for the very first time.

'It's been such an honor to build this home for Spc. Hempker in appreciation for his brave and heroic service to our country,' said Jim Marcero, division president for PulteGroup's Ohio operations. 'We're thrilled to have this opportunity to welcome Daus and Jessie home in time for the holidays, and so thankful for the incredible generosity of our trade partners and the local community that helped to make it happen.'

Spc. Hempker bravely served for over 6 years, including combat tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan. While conducting a dismounted patrol in September 2010, he was severely wounded by a pressure plate improvised explosive device (IED), causing him to undergo multiple open-abdominal surgeries and endure more than seven years of debilitating pain. He is the recipient of the Army Achievement Medal, Commendation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and Purple Heart for his service.

'Daus has endured so much on his road to recovery and Jessie has been unwavering in her support through it all,' said Marcero. 'We're so humbled by their amazing spirit and hopeful this home will be a source of comfort, joy, and great memories in this next chapter of their lives together.'

This is the first home dedicated in Ohio through the Built to Honor program, and is in partnership with Military Warriors Support Foundation, which supports our nation's combat-wounded heroes and Gold Star families as they transition out of the military and into civilian life.
