With Version 3.0, Rosenbauer launches the third generation of the successful aerial ladder with a lowerable cage boom. The new L32A-XS 3.0 combines the advantages of an articulated ladder with a significantly expanded working range. Specifically, the Rosenbauer XS now achieves up to 150 cm longer horizontal reach. Fire departments thus now have a device with which they can get even closer to a structure and reach more operational points than ever before from a single set-up position.

Metz Technology
The XS concept is unbeatable, especially where limited space is a factor. The Rosenbauer articulated ladder requires only 6.15 m distance to the ladder object - measured from the vehicle's outer edge - in order to be able to elevate it continuously along the facade. The 180° swivel made possible by the angled cage boom already gives the XS a road width of 9.50 m. And a 2.50 m distance between bumper and cage front is usually sufficient to be able to position the rescue cage directly in front of the driver's cab.

Sven Lindenfelser, Product Manager for Aerials at Rosenbauer: 'The XS combines many advantages in one device which otherwise could only be achieved through several different concepts'. One of the reasons for this is the special design of the cage boom, whose pivot point is offset inwards on the ladder set. This means that it bends away 'earlier' than the cage boom of a conventional articulated ladder.

Greater horizontal reach
The XS Version 3.0 also offers an increased range of active radius. Improvements to the rescue cage, weight savings and a completely newly developed control technology have enabled the overall performance to be significantly improved and, in particular, the horizontal reach to be further increased. Ideally, the aerial ladder will only need to be positioned once, reaching all parts of a larger building to the left and right of the vehicle. Sven Lindenfelser: 'In many cases you do not need to change the position of the XS 3.0 any more. This saves time and nerves in day-to-day operations, where every minute counts.'

New technologies
With the L32A-XS 3.0, Rosenbauer shows once again how new solutions and technological innovations are rapidly integrated into the product range. For example, the new controller provides ten times the computing power of its predecessor model and offers maximum connectivity (via 5 CAN buses) and flexibility through freely programmable inputs and outputs. Thus, the new premium turntable ladder can be equipped with state-of-the-art floodlight and camera systems (e.g. Birdview), more and more assistance systems can also be installed, and additional automatic functions can be implemented.

For firefighting operations, the L32A-XS 3.0, like all aerial ladders from Rosenbauer, can be completely equipped with firefighting equipment. For rescue operations special cage accessories such as a separate wheelchair mount have been developed.

Version 3.0 of Rosenbauer's premium turntable ladder is now available for fire departments to order. The first customer's vehicles are already in use in Frankfurt and Fulda.
