The BID, which will generate more than £2.3 million to invest into the town centre over the next five years, was voted for by local businesses on the 12th July. Upon implementation, projects will include streetscene improvements, parking transport and signage, Christmas lights as well as promoting the towns uniqueness.

Andrew Simms, Chairman at One Maidstone BID, comments: 'Having failed to achieve the formation of a Business Improvement District on two previous occasions, we are thrilled that after 11 years we have finally achieved this goal. CMS has provided the expertise and guidance to make this happen and we very much look forward to working with them to make Maidstone great again.'

Paul Clement, head of place shaping at Savills, adds: 'We are delighted to have worked alongside One Maidstone, leading to the recent successful ballot outcome. Now more than ever businesses are seeing the importance of championing the high street and the newly established BID is set to do just that. We hope to help breathe new life into the town over the next five years.'
