Sunrise Communications : Cheapest offer for unlimited data roaming in Europe

In April, Sunrise commissioned the market research institute LINK to carry out a representative survey among people aged 15-79. It shows a clear picture of smartphone use, holiday planning and roaming needs:

• 77% of respondents use apps such as WhatsApp, Skype, etc. to make phone calls.
• 68% of roaming users use data roaming
• 82% of the Swiss population plan to spend their next holiday in Europe

As part of a promotion last summer, Sunrise was the first provider to offer unlimited data roaming in neighbouring countries, Europe and the USA. Since then, the use of data roaming has quadrupled, with mobile data increasingly displacing telephony abroad. On average, data usage abroad rose from 250MB to over 1GB per customer, per month, while roaming call minutes stagnated at an average of under 30 minutes per customer, per month over the same period.

Sunrise's new offers also meet the customer's need for unlimited data usage abroad. Both the Travel data unlimited option and new mobile subscription include unlimited data roaming to 44 countries in Europe (including Turkey, see www.sunrise.ch/country-lists). This enables customers to use their mobile devices abroad like they do at home. After roaming data use reaches 40GB per month, the connection speed is throttled to 256 kbit/s (download) or 128 kbit/s (upload).

For customers who want low monthly mobile subscription fees throughout the year (e.g. with Sunrise Freedom swiss start), we recommend the Travel data unlimited Europe option for unlimited data roaming for 30 days at CHF 19.90 for a trip in Europe. The option can simply be activated in the Sunrise Cockpit or by SMS with 'unlimited europe' to 5522. The option is not automatically renewed after 30 days, so no cancellation is necessary.

Sunrise Freedom mobile plans offer the option of changing subscription at any time - even before and after a trip. For customers who want a flat rate offer throughout the year, it is better to change to the new Freedom Europe data mobile subscription during the travel period. Switching back to the Swiss flat rate is very easy and can be done at any time.

In both cases, customers only pay what they really need.
