Refinery Open Day

To help celebrate the company's 50th anniversary this year, and to show its appreciation to its neighbours and the wider community for the support they've given over this time, the New Zealand Refining Company is opening its gates to the public on Sunday 9 October.

This is a rare opportunity to explore and learn more about this refinery that provides all of New Zealand's jet fuel, 80% of the country's diesel and over half the country's petroleum. And about the company that has stood as a cornerstone of our community and our country for 50 years.

For example, did you know that NZRC provides the carbon dioxide that makes the bubbles in your fizzy drinks, or that it supplies all of the bitumen that goes into sealing our roads?

There will be plenty of entertainment and activities for the whole family. And bus tours of the refinery will run all day, giving people an insight into the size and scale of the plant as well as an understanding of how it operates and what it produces.

All proceeds from ticket sales are going to Project Promise, raising funds for a dedicated oncology facility at Whangarei Hospital.
