Tokmanni Oyj : New Tokmanni in Vääksy - The attractive new store sells lots of interesting products and generates some of its own energy­

Tokmanni is expanding to yet another town. On Thursday, 21 November 2019 at 8 am, a new store with an extensive assortment will be opened in the centre of Vääksy. The opening of the store that generates its own solar energy will be celebrated with amazing opening offers (https://tokmanni.edocker.com/reader/27935116-06d7-11ea-8dbe-00155d64030a%20) and free buckets filled with product gifts. 

The Tokmanni, which is situated in a very central retail location, will offer a wide assortment of, in particular, beauty, health and wellbeing products, home decoration, cleaning and seasonal products, and yard and garden products. The store will also sell clothes and accessories, non-perishable foods, tools, and leisure, home electronics and entertainment goods, for example. 

The Tokmanni, which will serve its customers in a newly-constructed retail building, has been designed to offer an easy and pleasant shopping experience. For example, the aisles are spacious, the signage is informative and the product areas are distinctive. The store also has a separate garden department and a recycling point for small waste electrical and electronic equipment. Just like other Tokmanni stores, the store at Vääksy will serve its customers as a collection point for orders made through the Tokmanni online store. The store has about 2,200 square metres of retail selling space. 

Tokmanni invests in energy efficiency: The store at Vääksy uses LED lighting and, just like more than 20 other Tokmanni stores, it has its own solar power plant on the roof. The solar power plant, with its 380 solar panels, produces approximately 100 MWh solar energy annually, which corresponds to about 10-15% of the annual total electricity consumption of a store and the annual electricity consumption of about 50 small apartments (2,000 kWh/v).

We are also very happy that, in the same way as many other Tokmanni stores, the new store will produce renewable energy and, in this way, contribute to reducing carbon dioxide emissions," he adds. 

There will be plenty of special offers (https://tokmanni.edocker.com/reader/27935116-06d7-11ea-8dbe-00155d64030a%20) at the new Tokmanni in Vääksy from Thursday, the opening day, to the following Sunday. In addition, 700 free buckets filled with product gifts will be handed out to the first customers at the store on the opening morning. This time the buckets will also contain necklaces donated by the municipality of Asikkala, instructions for an exercise routine using buckets and useful information on Asikkala, the municipality in which Vääksy is located. 

The Vääksy store will serve customers under the management of Eino Haverinen, Store Manager, who has previously been in charge of several other Tokmanni stores, on weekdays from 8 am to 8 pm, on Saturdays from 8 am to 7 pm and on Sundays from 10 am to 6 pm. The address of the new Tokmanni is Kartanontie 2, 17200 Vääksy. 

At the opening celebrations on Thursday morning, the general discount retailer will be represented by the store's 14 employees together with CEO Mika Rautiainen, Sales and Marketing Director Mathias Kivikoski and Regional Manager Arto Nykänen. Mayor Rinna Ikola-Norrbacka will hold a welcome speech on behalf of the Municipality of Asikkala. 

One more store opening will be celebrated this year 

Tokmanni's target is to expand its store network to include more than 200 stores and to increase its new retail selling space by approximately 12,000 square metres in net terms every year, which means around five new or relocated stores. The new store in Vääksy, will increase the number of stores in the Tokmanni general discount retailer chain to 190 around Finland. (https://www.tokmanni.fi/stores) 

This has been a very busy year for Tokmanni. Earlier in the year, Tokmanni opened eight Ale-Makasiini chain stores, two TEX chain stores and one Säästökuoppa store under the Tokmanni brand name, along with new stores in Loppi and in Tesoma, Tampere. In addition, Tokmanni relocated to new premises in Hanko and Juuka, reopened a refurbished store on Kehräämötie in Kajaani and refurbished and expanded stores in Turenki and Hollola and in the Skanssi shopping centre in Turku. In Siilinjärvi, Tokmanni centralised all of its store operations into the Tokmanni store that has been in operation in the town for many years by closing the Ale-Makasiini located in other premises nearby.

Later in November, Tokmanni will again expand its store network to a new location when the chain opens a new store in Virrat.¹)
