ViacomCBS Networks Africa as part of its anniversary, host a remarkable panel of Nigeria's top industry thought leaders at Social Media Week in Lagos on February 27th, 2020 to discuss the theme, 'Disruptions and Connections - A 360 Degree Approach To Creating Content and Experiences.'

The engaging panel session which had about 100 people in attendance, touched on everything from content creation, event management to the 360-degree approach ViacomCBS brands deploy in creating its contents and events.

In her welcome address, Senior Channels Manager at ViacomCBS Networks Africa, Solafunmi Oyeneye, said, 'Content and consumer experience are two things we're very passionate about at ViacomCBS - a fact that is made even more apparent as we mark a significant milestone since our African debut in 2005. It's why this year we continue to explore even more ways to create content and experiences that really matter.'

The panel was moderated by the delectable MTV Base VJ, Sammy Walsh, featured contributions from communication and events experts such as; Country Manager, Viacom International Media Networks Africa, Bada Akintunde Johnson; MD/CEO of Mirus Events, Kunmi Ariyo, Project General at iPanache Communications, Deji Orunkoyi; Head of New Business and Live - (Anglophone) West and East Africa at Universal Music Group, BayoFatoba and Chief Creative Officer of Top boy Entertainment, Tobi Mohammed. With each panellist coming from a unique background and having a spectacular record of accomplishment, their contributions to the panel were educative, interactive and distinctive.

Speaking on how the VicaomCBS brands create content that resonates with their audience, Country Manager, Bada Akintunde-Johnson, said the brand listens to its different audiences to understand what works for them. Citing MTV Shuga and Nickfest as examples of ViacomCBS projects that were created by listening, researching and understanding the audience, Akintunde-Johnson said, 'With MTV Shuga for instance, we knew from observing young people that teaching sex education the way it's always been done would have put them off, so what we did was to infuse it into entertainment while making sure the message we're trying to pass is not lost.

In its eighth year, SMW is a conference and festival of tech and innovation, where attendees learn how to leverage technology to harness opportunities in diverse sectors like agriculture, technology, and entertainment.
