Stryker Corp. on Wednesday said Timothy Scannell, its president and chief operating officer, plans to retire in March 2023 after more than three decades with the medical-devices maker.

The Kalamazoo, Mich., company said Mr. Scannell would transition to the post of adviser to the chief executive effective Oct. 1 and assist with the transition of his duties, which Stryker plans to split between group presidents J. Andrew Pierce and Spencer Stiles.

Messrs. Pierce and Stiles will report directly to Chairman and CEO Kevin Lobo, the company said.

Mr. Scannell, who joined Stryker in 1990, has been president and chief operating officer since 2018.
