Dato' Seri Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi, was appointed as the Chairman of Khazanah Nasional in December 2003.
From 1964 to 1978, he was in Government service where he held various key posts, including Director of the Youth Unit in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports from 1971 to 1973 and as the Deputy Secretary General in the same Ministry in 1974.
In 1978, he left government service to join politics where he has held a number of key cabinet posts prior to his election as Prime Minister, including Minister of Education from 1984 to 1986; Minister of Defence from 1986 to 1987 and Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1991 to January 1999.
In January 1999, he was appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs, and became the Prime Minister in November 2003.
He attended the University of Malaya where he graduated with B.A.
(Hons) in Islamic studies
