Good VCs need a healthy dose of curiosity, optimism, and patience.
I am continually amazed at how industries and our personal experiences are being shaped by technology that is less than a decade old.
I get particularly excited when I see a collision of meta trends and technology to create entirely new business models and categories.
Growing up as a country kid meant pragmatism, authenticity, getting shit done, and a firm handshake were all part of the package.
As a founder, raising over $30m in funding taught me that the best investors leave you feeling understood, and like you’ve learned something.
As a group, we’ve been investing for the past 20 years.
We’ve seen dozens of businesses and teams navigate product-market-fit, and experienced the business model challenges that come with operating over two market cycles.
To reset, I love to get away for adventures in the wild.
There is nothing like endurance, cold, comradery (and sometimes fear) to provide a perspective on life.
My biggest regret is… not learning to play a musical instrument.
It’s the ancient medium that still moves our souls and I’d love to be able to jam with my musical friends.
To make up for this, I try and say yes to every chance to catch a band, and we go to one music festival every year as a family.
