Prior to joining Global Crown Capital, LLC, in San Franciso, Dr. Winkler, Ph.D., joined Merriman Curhan Ford & Co. in September of 2003 to cover Healthcare Therapeutics and Diagnostics.
Dr. Winkler’s sell side analyses reflect not only her appreciation as a laboratory biologist of clinical discovery and development processes, but also her passion and experience as a teacher in communicating scientific principles to diverse audiences.
Previously, she worked with Shoreline Pacific, LLC and began that firm’s research efforts.
During 2001, Dr. Winkler served as a founding editor of the primary research journal Cancer Cell, published by Cell Press in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and her professional experience also includes two years spent teaching high school biology and chemistry at National Cathedral School in Washington, DC.
In addition, she has been a free-lance scientific illustrator and a commercial salmon fisher in Egegik, Alaska.
Dr. Winkler earned her Ph.D.
as a National Science Foundation Fellow in the Department of Pharmacology and the Program in Cell and Molecular Biology at Duke University, and she holds a B.A.
in Biology from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania.
She loves adventures small and large, urban and rural.
She especially enjoys her escapes backpacking in the wild with friends and reading fiction at home in the fog.
