Mr. Espy is an attorney, consultant, and advisor specializing in international trade, trade policy, government relations, agricultural finance and development, as well as in humanitarian food aid issues and mass tort litigation.
He is a former U.S.
Secretary of Agriculture and a former Member of Congress.
At the helm of USDA, one of the largest and most diverse departments of the federal government, Secretary Espy, at the direction of President Bill Clinton, took a lead role in negotiating the GATT and NAFTA Treaties, and in representing the United States' agricultural portfolio at the WTO.
Secretary Espy has served as a principal advisor to many foreign governments regarding agricultural finance, development, and humanitarian food aid issues and has lectured widely on these topics.
Mr. Espy received a graduate degree from Howard University in 1975 and a Law degree from the University of Santa Clara in 1978.
He is a Director of Alternative Energy Sources, Inc.
