Prior to joining MidOcen Partners, Mr. Austrian most recently served as the interim Chairman and CEO of Office Depot, Inc., a position from which he stepped down in 2005 when a permanent CEO was recruited.
He also spent nine years as an executive at the National Football League until he retired in 1999.
Previously, he spent four years as a founding partner of Dryden & Company then joined a client, Doyle Dane Bernbach (DDB), beginning as CFO then becoming CEO.
In 1984, Mr. Austrian was asked by Warner Communications Inc. to head a new joint venture with Viacom Inc. He served as Chairman and Chief Executive until 1987 when he left to join Dillon Read as managing director, co-heading their leveraged buyout practice.
