Mr. Scott joined Unilever in 1983 and during the first six years of his career he worked in a variety of businesses in the UK, US and Holland in a range of financial positions.
In 1989 he joined the Mergers & Acquisitions department at Unilever, based in the UK.
In 1992 he moved to Unichema in the Netherlands as Senior Vice President Commercial, and in 1995 became Group Vice President, Europe.
In 1998 he was appointed Chief Administrative Officer for ICI Paints in North America, and in 1999 he became Vice President Strategy & Performance at ICI's headquarters in London.
In January 2001, he was appointed ICI Chief Financial Officer and an Executive Director of the Company.
He graduated from St Catherine's College, Oxford with an MA in Chemistry.
He was a qualified chartered management accountant.
