Shares of energy companies ticked up as oil and natural gas futures booked weekly advances.

Oil futures closed around $92 a barrel, up about 3.5% for the week. Natural gas futures closed on the cusp of the $9-per-million British thermal units level, up 8.7% for the week. Natural gas futures have more than doubled for the year to date, and some brokerages are forecasting further gains in the fall, as Russia turns off the spigots for European customers, spurring demand for liquefied natural gas exports.
