Dr. Hinrich Mählmann (59) is the new president of the German Aluminium Association (GDA), Düsseldorf. He was elected in the General Assembly of the GDA on 09 September 2015 in Dusseldorf and thus succeeds Heinz-Peter Schlüter (65), who had held this function since September 2013. As Vice President of the Association the GDA General Assembly chose Kjetil Ebbesberg (44) of Hydro Aluminium Rolled Products GmbH; he is also executive vice president of the group management of Norsk Hydro ASA.

Dr. Hinrich Mählmann thanked his predecessor Heinz-Peter Schlüter, owner and chairman of TRIMET aluminum SE, Essen, for his work in his two-year presidency term. "Heinz-Peter Schlüter is a leading entrepreneur and has worked as president of GDA with a passion for, and great commitment to, the material and the interests of the industry," said Mählmann.

Dr. Hinrich Mählmann has been a personally liable partner of OTTO FUCHS KG, Meinerzhagen since 2008. In 2012 he also took on the function of the personally liable partner of Schüco International KG, Bielefeld. In addition to these functions, he is responsible for OTTO FUCHS KG operationally in the areas of technology and sales. In the committees of the GDA, Dr. Hinrich Mählmann has held various positions for many years.

The German Aluminium Association (GDA), with its headquarters in Düsseldorf was founded in 1992 in Dresden. It is an association of aluminium companies that produce raw aluminium or aluminium products. As an industrial sector association, GDA represents the interests of an efficient aluminium industry with a membership of 96%.
