Preliminary data shows German consumer prices declined in August for the second consecutive month, German statistics office Destatis said Monday.
Consumer prices fell 0.1% on month in August as measured by national standards, and declined 0.2% on EU-harmonized standards, Destatis said. Economists polled by The Wall Street Journal had forecast that prices would remain flat in both national standards and EU-harmonized standards.
Consumer prices remained flat on year in national standards, in line with the forecast from economists polled by The Wall Street Journal. Prices declined 0.1% on year in EU-harmonized standards, below the polled economists' forecast of a 0.1% increase.
The final results for August will be released on September 11.
