Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk held a meeting with Speaker of the National Assembly (Majlisi Milli) of Tajikistan Rustami Emomali as part of the visit of the Majlisi Milli delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Russian Federation.

Alexei Overchuk and Rustami Emomali discussed topical issues of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. They paid special attention to cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, mining, the processing industry, agriculture and cultural and humanitarian contacts.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that Russia and Tajikistan are linked by allied relations and strategic partnership, which are based on the principles of equality and mutual respect. 'Our trade and economic cooperation continues developing. The Russian Federation has retained its standing as a key investment partner of the Republic of Tajikistan,' he noted.

Mr Overchuk also expressed confidence that the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation Between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan to be held in the beginning of the next year will further promote bilateral trade and economic ties.
