Ingrid Brocková, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, began the second day of her work trip to the Republic of Moldova by negotiating with Veaceslav Dobîndă, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova.

"Slovakia supports the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova in its internationally recognised borders, as well as its integration and reform efforts toward the EU. We also support Moldova, as one of our three development cooperation program countries, through several SlovakAid projects," said the State Secretary.

Her Moldovan partner V. Dobîndă appreciated Slovakia's long-term support in the integration efforts and reforms, which are a priority of the current Moldovan government, expressed gratitude for the development aid provided and expressed their interest in the expertise of the Slovak Republic as a priority in the area of judicial reform.

The State Secretary confirmed her interest in strengthening cooperation in the economic field. "In the future, it will be necessary to focus on creating conditions for the successful enforcement of Slovak players on the Moldovan market. Cybersecurity, energy efficiency, public finance management and waste management are promising areas," added the State Secretary.

Also on the agenda wasa meeting with Scott Hocklander, head of USAID in Moldova, with whom she discussed the possibilities of building on already jointly implemented USAID projects with SlovakAid in the field of building client centres.

The discussion with Jānis Mažeiks, the Head of the EU Delegation in Moldova, focused on the activities of the Team Europe initiative and the possibilities of Slovakia to participate in the implementation of European projects in the Republic of Moldova. Prior to the negotiations, Tomáš Bokor, Director of the Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation (SAIDC) signed a cooperation agreement between the EU and SAIDC on a project of delegated cooperation in building capacities of local media with a budget of EUR 1 million. For the first time in history, SAIDC will be the main implementing body of this European project.

"By obtaining the authority to carry out the delegated cooperation, SAIDC confirmed that it was a trusted partner and was in a position to effectively administer the entrusted EU funds. This project in Moldova will be an invaluable experience for SAIDC and also represents an opportunity for Slovak entities to participate in development activities financed from the EU budget," added the State Secretary Ingrid Brocková.

The work lunch with the Chairperson of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Moldovan Parliament, Doina Gherman, was a discussion on the possibilities of developing bilateral relations and intensifying cooperation between the parliaments of Slovakia and Moldova.

Subsequently, the delegation moved to the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, where the program continued with a visit to several development projects implemented with the support of SlovakAid. In the region, the Slovak Republic has long been helping mainly in the area of setting up client centres aimed at increasing the efficiency of services provided by municipalities, supporting initiatives for youth activation, social projects to help disabled children and projects to combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The intensive working day ended with a meeting with Irina Vlah, Governor of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia and a member of the Government of the Republic of Moldova.
