June 28 (Reuters) - A depression off the South Carolina coast has strengthened into tropical storm Danny, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

The storm was about 60 miles (95 km) east southeast of Beaufort, South Carolina, packing maximum sustained winds of 40 miles (65 km) per hour, the Miami-based weather forecaster said. (Reporting by Arpan Varghese in Bengaluru, Editing by Rosalba O'Brien)
