SAO PAULO, Aug 14 (Reuters) - Brazilian electric utility Eletrobras said on Monday its Chief Executive Wilson Ferreira Junior had resigned his position after less than a year in the role, with chairman Ivan Monteiro set to replace him.

It was Ferreira's second stint as CEO, rejoining the firm in September 2022 after previously serving as Eletrobras' chief from 2016 to early 2021.

He was first appointed by Brazil's former President Michel Temer to overlook the company's $6 billion privatization process, but left to lead fuel distributor Vibra Energia SA amid doubts over the privatization bid.

The company did not provide any reason for the latest departure.

Eletrobras said in a statement its board of directors elected its Chairman and former Petrobras president Ivan Monteiro to replace Ferreira Junior.

Vicente Falconi Campos will replace Monteiro as Chairman, it added.
