U.S. grain export inspections are down from this time last week, according to the latest report from the Agriculture Department.

In its weekly report released Monday, the USDA said export inspections of corn, soybeans and wheat are all lower for the week ended Feb. 29 versus the previous week. Corn inspections totaled 1.08 million metric tons, while soybean inspections totaled 1.02 million tons and wheat inspections totaled 353,137 tons.

Even with corn inspections down from the previous week, the gulf between this year and last year's export pace continues to widen. Corn inspections are 35% higher for the current marketing year versus last year, totaling 20.63 million tons.

Meanwhile, soybean and wheat inspections remain below the previous year's pace. Soybean inspections are 20% lower, and wheat inspections are 17% lower.

CBOT grains are higher in trading Monday. Corn was up 1.5%, soybeans 0.7% higher and wheat up 1%.
