Sales of old-crop grain exports fell back for the week, the USDA reports.

In its weekly report covering sales for the week ended July 28, the USDA said that sales of corn for the 2021/22 marketing year - last year's crop - totaled 57,900 metric tons, down 62% from the previous week. Soybean sales for the same marketing year were reduced by 11,000 tons, which is down 81% from the previous week.

However, sales of grains being grown now - the 2022/23 marketing year - were considerably stronger. Sales of corn totaled 256,700 tons in that timeframe, while soybean sales totaled 410,600 tons and wheat sales totaled 249,900 tons.

In pre-market trading Thursday, grain futures are higher - with the most-active corn contract up 0.3%, soybeans up 1.1%, and wheat up 0.6%
