Kensington Computer Products Group (Kensington), a
division of an ACCO Brands Corporation (NYSE:ABD) today announced that
it has won a patent lawsuit against Belkin Corporation and ABA Locks
Manufacturing Company (ABA), protecting Kensington's patented computer
security lock technology.
A jury in Marshall, Texas agreed with Kensington that Belkin's and
ABA's products infringe Kensington's patents. The jury found that
Belkin and ABA willfully infringed Kensington's patents and awarded
Kensington damages. The Court permanently prohibited Belkin and ABA
from selling the infringing products and granted Kensington its
attorney's fees and costs.
"Kensington's victory once again demonstrates the strength of our
notebook lock patent portfolio," said Boris Elisman, President of
Kensington Computer Products Group. "We created the security slot
found on 95 percent of all laptops made today and have made
substantial investments in patented locking technologies that benefit
consumers. We intend to vigorously defend our intellectual property
rights and protect our patented products."
