Accrelist Ltd. announced that it has formalised merchant agreements with Long Beach Seafood Restaurant, Sim Lim Square, Hong Kong Tea House and China Commodity Market to offer Accrelist-owned point-of-sale terminals at their outlets using Tencent's WeChat Pay. This electronic payment business is helmed by WE9 Pay Pte. Ltd. (WE9Pay), a wholly owned subsidiary of Accrelist. WE9Pay collects a processing fee for payments made by consumers via WeChat Pay at its partner merchants. As part of WE9Pay's initiatives, it had earlier set up an Apps team and begun production of the point-of-sale terminals for its electronic payment system. WE9Pay also holds a remittance license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Accrelist is also planning to install WE9Pay's electronic payment system at WE9GO, which will be the first unmanned store in Singapore offering "grab-and-go" technology. Situated at The Arizon at 538 Geylang Road, the location of the store is strategic as it has a strong market of consumers, especially those from China. The cashier-free store will operate round-the-clock daily, offering huge convenience to the neighbourhood. The outlet, which is approximately 875 square feet, will carry mostly China-imported food and beverages and lifestyle products. Shoppers will be required to have a WeChat Pay account to shop at the store. As the products will be equipped with radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags, shoppers simply have to select their purchases and enter a gated payment zone via QR code or facial recognition. The payment zone will automatically scan and sum up the product prices for payment. The payment process, which are made via WeChat Pay, eliminates the need for traditional checkout counters altogether.
