Amcor : How our Global Innovation Network is supporting a more sustainable suture

One of the biggest drivers for Amcor is our commitment to developing and producing responsible packaging solutions. Our work allows us to ensure the safe distribution of a wide range of products, from consumables to medicine, in a more sustainable manner than traditional packaging options available on the market.

Our ongoing commitment to sustainability has been empowered to succeed thanks to our annual $100 million customer-led investment into Amcor's world-leading research and development discipline. This investment highlights our commitment to drive the industry forward through industry and disruptive thinking; underlining this mindset, in August we announced the opening of our latest innovation center in the Asia-Pacific region.

With this center strategically placed in a rapidly evolving region, the growth of our customers and the development of new and innovative packaging products in China can be supercharged. As the only packaging company to establish a global innovation network, we have been able to directly interact with customers, while also ensuring they are able to benefit from a wealth of international knowledge and the brain trust of more than 800 Amcor colleagues dedicated to moving R&D forward. By building on our experience with previous centers, and thanks to our global position, we can help ensure we deliver the best ideas and ultimately the best products for the Asia Pacific market.

Our Unique Collaborative Approach

The core aim for this innovation center is to bring Amcor's years of expertise in delivering industry-leading service to one of our most prominent regions. By opening a center in the Asia Pacific, we can ensure our talented colleagues are on hand, working in tandem with our customers, and encouraging joint collaboration to develop more sustainable packing solutions customized to their individual and specific market needs.

As with all our global centers, we do this through our three core programs - all of which are designed to achieve the best results for our customers.

· The Catalyst™ program - At this stage we work alongside our partners in developing customized solutions keeping their customers and individual situations at the forefront of our mind.
· The Ideation and Prototyping Innovation Lab - Our lab aims to shorten the time spent on the prototype without threatening the quality of the design. This is undertaken by our team of experts on hand in the centers who are able to draw from consumer insights and apply this to rapid prototyping.
· The Applications Lab - In this laboratory built into every center, we test prototypes with our cutting-edge technology to swiftly identify potential issues and maximize efficiency for a smooth and cost-effective production process.

Whether the packaging needs to be biodegradable, to use less emissions during production, use more recycled material or any other sustainable attributes, the innovation centers are designed specifically to produce innovative and more sustainable products without compromising on safety and functionality.
