Aozora joins Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF)

Tokyo December 9, 2022 - Aozora Bank, Ltd. (President and CEO: Kei Tanikawa; Head

Office: Tokyo) ('Aozora' or 'the Bank') today announced that it has joined the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF).

PCAF is an international initiative designed to standardize the measurement and disclosure of greenhouse gas emissions ('GHG emissions') associated with investments and loans. PCAF has developed and provides methodologies to measure GHG emissions of financial institutions' borrowers and investees.

The Aozora Group has positioned the promotion of sustainability as a management priority and identified "Response to climate change" as one of its Key Sustainability Issues (ESG Materiality). Joining PCAF allows Aozora to utilize the methodologies and databases developed by PCAF and work towards measuring and disclosing the GHG emissions of borrowers and investees as a way to contribute to becoming carbon neutral by 2050.

【Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) Overview】

PCAF is an international initiative established by Dutch financial institutions in 2015 and launched worldwide in 2019 with the aim of standardizing the measurement and disclosure of GHG emissions associated with investments and loans. In November 2020, it published the Global GHG Accounting and Reporting Standard for the Financial Industry (PCAF Standard), the world's first standardized methodology for measuring GHG emissions in the investment and loan portfolios of financial institutions. As of December 2022, more than 340 financial institutions worldwide are part of PCAF.
