Ashland introduces Aquaflow ECO-300biocide-free, nonionic synthetic thickener for waterborne coatings in an active solid dosage form

WILMINGTON, Del., June 7, 2021- Ashland is introducing Aquaflow™ ECO-300, a high shear, biocide-free nonionic synthetic thickener for high-performance waterborne paints and coatings, delivered in a 100 percent active solid dosage form.

Aquaflow nonionic synthetic associative thickeners (NSATs) are efficient and build rheology in paints and coatings through self-association and interaction with other ingredients.

Aquaflow rheology modifiers are based on hydrophobically-modifiedpolyacetal-polyether(HM-PAPE) chemistry and are designed to function as a drop-in replacement for urethane-type (HEUR) thickeners. They also work well in conjunction with hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC/HMHEC) and other nonionic cellulose ethers.

"Ashland is committed to expanding our offerings of sustainable solutions," said Ludger Kueper, European marketing manager, architectural coatings, Ashland. "Our new Aquaflow™ ECO-300 rheology modifier is biocide-free and 100 percent active with no additional raw materials. By transporting the product in paper sacks instead of intermediate bulk containers (IBCs), we can reduce the amount of plastic in our supply chain and greenhouse gas emissions from IBC shipments. This product ensures no residual waste, and it does not require energy-intensive temperature control. With lighter and fewer shipments, we can contribute to an estimated 80% reduction of CO2 emissions* in this supply chain."

At Ashland, we are passionate about creating technologies and solutions to improve our customers' products and processes, reduce our environmental impact, preserve the world's natural resources, and enhance the quality of life within our communities.
