Atrium Ljungberg has signed a lease contract with Stockholm University of the Arts in Slakthusområdet, where the university will gather all of its operations. The new district where the university's premises will be located covers almost 36,000 m[2] GFA and is scheduled for completion in 2030.

Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH) is a public university that is currently spread across five different addresses in Östermalm. The university provides unique and diverse education and research within circus, dance, dance pedagogy, film, media, opera, dramatic art and acting. SKH has approximately 500 students and 250 employees and doctoral students who will all now be gathered under one roof with the aim of creating an attractive educational and research environment where different disciplines can be inspired by one another and develop.

"We are so pleased to welcome SKH to Slakthusområdet. The establishment of the university is fully in line with the vision for the area and the objective of the new Slakthusområdet. By combining education, workplaces, housing and culture, we create an attractive city district that has the potential to foster close cooperation between the academic and business communities," says Annica Ånäs, CEO of Atrium Ljungberg.

"This contract brings us even closer to our vision of a single building where all our education and research can develop together to create exciting collaborations within SKH and cooperate with the local community. We are pleased that Atrium Ljungberg is choosing to invest in building a university of the arts, particularly in the dynamic and creative Slakthusområdet," says Paula Crabtree, Vice Chancellor of SKH.

SKH's operations will cover around 20,000 m2 NRA. In addition, almost 6,000 m2 NRA in external office premises will be created at the top of the building, and there will be a restaurant covering approximately 300 m2 NRA on the ground floor. The investment is estimated to amount to just over SEK 2 billion and the lease agreement, with a contract period of 20 years, has been approved by the government. The lease contract is conditional on, among other things, a development agreement and the detailed development plan becoming legally binding. The final rental value is also linked to conditions in the contract and therefore will be determined at a later date. The ambition is to certify the building in accordance with Breeam Excellent and achieve Energy Class A.

Atrium Ljungberg focuses on development of large coherent areas and creates attractive urban environments with rich and mixed content. The company already owns a number of properties used for educational activities, for example Campus Sickla with a number of upper secondary schools, Nod in Kista with university, upper secondary school and offices integrated in the same building, and BAS Barkarby, where Järfälla municipality's theoretical upper secondary education, cultural and sports facilities are integrated with operators in the business sector.
