Augean plc announced the creation of a new business division, Radioactive Waste Services. As announced at the group's interim results, further growth in the available markets for treatment and disposal of low activity radioactive wastes from the nuclear and non-nuclear sectors forms a core part of the ongoing review of the group's strategy, presenting an opportunity for further growth in revenues, profits and cash flows, enhancing the return from the capital employed to deliver these activities. In order to realise these opportunities and build on the existing business the group has formed a new Radioactive Waste Services business, which will operate as a separate division within the group, utilise the disposal facilities at the ENRMF and Port Clarence sites. The sites will continue to be operated by the Land Resources division.

The company announced the new business will be led by Helen Simms, who has been appointed as Director of Radioactive Waste Services. Helen has spent her entire career, some 19 years, in the UK nuclear business. She joins the Group following a successful career with AMEC, culminating in her role as the Nuclear Services business unit director, and more recently as Managing Director of Redhall Nuclear. Helen will become a member of the Group's Management Board and report Dr. Stewart Davies, Chief Executive Officer.
