The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 2 cents per share.

The home health care services provider posted revenue of $478.8 million in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $464.3 million.

For the year, the company reported that its loss narrowed to $134.5 million, or 71 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $1.9 billion.

The company's shares closed at $2.50. A year ago, they were trading at $1.55.
