HOUSTON (AP) _ Baker Hughes Co. (BKR) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income of $294 million.

On a per-share basis, the Houston-based company said it had net income of 32 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to 25 cents per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 10 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 29 cents per share.

The oilfield services company posted revenue of $5.52 billion in the period, which topped Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $5.5 billion.

For the year, the company reported that its loss narrowed to $219 million, or 27 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $20.54 billion.

Baker Hughes shares have risen slightly more than 9% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 15% in the last 12 months.
