Comunicat de presa2020-12-29

Banca Transilvania's results show that BT Pay has contributed to the creation of new behaviors this year - contactless shopping offline, money transfers and donations in app, all done by phone.

  • The number of payments by phone tripled in 2020 compared to 2019, reaching 4 million transactions / month done by phone, till year end.
  • More and more money transfers are performed using the application: their number has quadrupled in 2020 compared to 2019, reaching 1.3 million transactions / month at the end of the year.
  • Over 100,000 cards were first used in digital format, in BT Pay, even before being physically received by costomers. Customers can open an online account and add the digital card in the application right away, without having to wait for the physical card.
  • Over 12,000 donations were made using BT Pay, within a period of eight months, to 12 foundations and organizations with which Banca Transilvania collaborates. BT launched the Donations by Phone feature in April 2020 to support the national efforts fighting the pandemy, giving the customers the most convenient way to make a donation - right in the app. The most recent social cause that Banca Transilvania joined - this time, together with the Simona Halep Foundation - was to help children most affected by the pandemic, a project initiated by SOS Satele Copiiilor Romania. BT and the foundation donated 50,000 euro, and the bank doubled every donation made through BT Pay and through the bank's website for two weeks in December this year. Therefore more than 130,000 euro were raised to help 450 children to have decent living conditions.

More than 1 million people use BT Pay for their daily banking operations - from contactless payments by phone at any POS, to money transfers, cards' management, online shopping confirmations, to the ability to withdraw money from an ATM without the need of a physical card .
