MUSCAT, 25 May 2021

In line with its commitment to community development and corporate social responsibility, Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate, is continuing to complete new sports fields across the Sultanate as part of its flagship Green Sports programme. The bank recently celebrated the completion of two new sports fields in North Al Batinah and two fields in South Al Batinah as part of its efforts to promote Oman as a sporting nation.

The announcement of the project completion for the Al Ghadafan Sports Team's field in the Wilayat of Liwa in North Al Batinah was attended by Saeed Khamis Al Mamari, the Chairman of the Team. The bank also celebrated the Al Nasr Sports Team's sports field in the Wilayat of Al Khabourah in North Al Batinah, in the presence of Khalid Abdullah Al Wahaibi, a member of the Board of Directors. Abdul Rahman Abdullah Al Shizawi, Regional Manager - North Al Batinah, Bank Muscat, handed over project completion certificates to both the teams at the respective handover events in North Al Batinah.

Meanwhile, two Green Sports fields were also handed over to teams in South Al Batinah Governorate. The field for the Al Hussn Sports Team in the Wilayat of Rustaq was represented by Hilal Saeed Al Harmali, Chairman of the Team. The fourth sports field was handed over to the Al Taawun Sports Team from the Wilayat of Al Musannah in the presence of Ali Salim Al Braiki, a member of the Board of Directors. Both the events in South Al Batinah were attended by Adnan Ahmed Rajab Al Balushi, Assistant Regional Manager - South Al Batinah, who handed over project completion certificates to the teams. All the handover events were organised in full compliance with COVID-19 norms.

On this occasion, Abdul Rahman Abdullah Al Shizawi, Regional Manager - North Al Batinah, Bank Muscat said that we are pleased to extend our congratulations to the teams whose Green Sports fields have been completed, wishing them more success and achievements in the future. The winning teams for this year will be announced in the coming days, across different categories including installation of artificial turf or natural grass on sports fields, floodlighting and water-desalination systems.

On his part, Adnan Ahmed Al Balushi, Assistant Regional Manager - South Al Batinah, Bank Muscat said that the Green Sports programme implemented by the bank since 2012 continues its successes as a large number of Green Sports fields have been completed over the past years. He said: "Today, we are pleased to have completed the opening of these new fields, which will be an important resource for members of these teams to practice different types of sports, to host community events and activities and also obtain financial returns by commercialising the use of the sports field in the right way."

It must be noted that as many as 123 teams have benefitted from the bank's flagship CSR programme until the end of 2020. The scope of support under the Green Sports programme included installation of artificial turf or natural grass on sports fields, floodlighting and water-desalination systems. There is no doubt that it has been greatly contributing to further build Omani sporting talent. The programme is providing an excellent means to channelize the energy and talents of Omani youth in a productive way. Importantly, it is building a pipeline of talented players who can represent the country at all levels in the future. There is no doubt that it also has a positive impact on the environment. Notably, Green Sports fields across the country are also used by local communities for a number of community activities apart from sports.
