Bankinter and EFPA España (the Spanish affiliate of the European Financial Planning Association) entered into an agreement to enhance financial training in stock market and equities investing for both professionals and customers. The association will certify Bankinter's stock market training programmes so that the courses it offers to customers and individuals interested in stock markets to teach them about investing, including courses carried out with the Fórum Bolsa and Trader (for amateur investors), will carry the EFPA seal of approval for current MiFID II standards.

Accordingly, in three months Bankinter organised eight Fórum Bolsa and Trader Lab training sessions in various Spanish cities, which have helped teach over 2,100 people about stock markets.

These courses have also allowed over 600 EFPA España associates obtain continuous training, as required by the EU directive, MiFID II, to earn re-certification hours towards their EFPA titles: European Investment Assistant (EIA), European Investment Practitioner (EIP), European Financial Advisor (EFA) and European Financial Planner (EFP), all of them fully adapted to the requirements put in place by the EU securities market supervisor, ESMA, after the directive had taken effect.

As a result of this agreement, Bankinter will continue to take part in actions to support EFPA España qualification and certification efforts, and in other projects of the association to adapt its offering of financial products to current legislation and recommendations. Furthermore, EFPA España will cooperate with the bank to publicise initiatives to spread awareness of developments concerning portfolio management and financial instrument composition.

With this type of initiatives, Bankinter will strengthen its commitment to providing professionals, customers and other individuals with a general interest in how markets work, with quality training. Its training objectives included:

The EFPA España chairman, Carlos Tusquets, explained that 'with this new MiFID II scenario, it will be essential to promote continuous training to update knowledge and new products in a constantly active market.' Upon signing this agreement, EFPA has 62 corporate partners, including the main banking entities and fund managers in Spain and abroad.
