The U.K. Competition and Markets Authority on Thursday cleared Booking Holdings Inc.'s 1.6 billion-euro ($1.56 billion) acquisition of Etraveli Group following a review of the deal.

The regulator said that, based on information currently available, it won't refer the deal for a further in-depth investigation.

The CMA launched its investigation into the deal last month to see if it would lead to a substantial lessening of competition.

Last November, Booking Holdings said it was buying global flight booking provider Etraveli Group from funds managed by CVC Capital Partners.
