Booz Allen Hamilton has named Senior Associate Angela Orebaugh a Fellow in the firm's Functional Skills Belting program, which recognizes deep subject matter expertise. The distinction of Booz Allen Fellow is reserved for an elite group of the firm's most noted authorities - individuals who are respected for their broad impact, both within the firm and in the broader professional community. Ms. Orebaugh is the firm's first Cybersecurity Fellow, with the breadth of her accomplishments in the field driving her selection.

Throughout her 18-year career, Ms. Orebaugh has consistently leveraged her strategic and technical expertise within commercial, academic, and government environments to deliver state-of-the-art cyber solutions to a number of high visibility clients. She has authored six books on Cybersecurity - Wireshark and Ethereal Network Protocol Analyzer Toolkit, Ethereal Packet Sniffing, Nmap in the Enterprise, Snort Cookbook, Intrusion Prevention and Active Response, and How to Cheat at Configuring Open Source Security Tools. She is also co-author on numerous papers published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). She provides cybersecurity leadership across a variety of roles including advisory boards, conference committees, and journal review boards. Ms. Orebaugh is an authority in the fields of security automation, continuous monitoring, vulnerability management, intrusion detection and prevention, and packet analysis.

Her leadership in the emerging area of security automation has delivered much needed solutions to combat the cyber challenges facing public and private sector entities today. Ms. Orebaugh is currently completing her Ph.D. in Information Technology with Concentration in Information Security at George Mason University. She holds a Master's degree in Computer Science, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems from James Madison University.

Booz Allen's Functional Skills Belting Program was announced in early 2011, and offers highly skilled staff the opportunity to be recognized for their functional expertise in select, high-demand disciplines. Criteria for these credentials are based on rigorous industry and Booz Allen-selected requirements.
