Florida-based BurgerFiInternational Inc., which owns BurgerFi and Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza & Wings, has acquired two South Florida franchise restaurants in Hallandale Beach and Miami Beach, Florida.

"By defining the BurgerFi portfolio and strengthening our foundation, we recognized an opportunity for growth in our backyard," CEO Carl Bachmann said in a company press release. "Operating these restaurants in highly trafficked, popular tourist spots in south Florida is a strategic move to solidify our presence in core markets."

Bachmann, who left his role in May as CEO of Smashburger to lead BurgerFi, has implemented a five point business plan focused on defining the portfolio. With the addition of these two restaurants, the company operates 27 corporate locations throughout its home state of Florida, which adds another layer to the brand's presence, Bachmann.

BurgerFi also recently announced its return to New York City with the reopening of its flagship restaurant and its Better Burger Lab experience by year's end. The store joins locations in Brooklyn and Long Island, as the company steps up its commitment to the NYC market.

"South Florida is a top destination for New Yorkers, and now our guests can discover BurgerFi in South Florida and go back and enjoy it year-round in Manhattan. This is a win-win for both our guests and the brand," Bachmann said.
