C. Mer Industries Ltd. has won a tender for the design, supply, installation, and maintenance of technological systems at Israel's new international airport, named after Ilan and Asaf Rimon, in Timna near Eilat. The contract is estimated at ILS 15 million. The new airport, designed for international and domestic flights, is planned to replace the current airports in Eilat and Ovda, and is expected to serve two million passengers a year. Scheduled to begin operations in April 2017, the new airport will include a terminal and spacious duty-free halls for passengers, parking space for airplanes, takeoff runways and transportation, a modern control tower, operating areas, convenience stores, and a system of roads and parking lots. C. Mer will building a 14-kilometer protection system at the new airport, and will also establish a closed circuit television system with 400 cameras for observation and control of the airport and passenger halls, support and maintenance buildings, a control system at the entrance to the airport, and a public address system. The company will install its Secure-M NG command and control system at the airport control center, which will control all the elements in the system and will also be interfaced with the airport operating and safety systems. Under the agreement, C. Mer will also provide maintenance services, training, and airport services for 12 years.
