Phil Is Already Hitting Bombs

Callaway staffer Phil Mickelson is off to a great start with his MAVRIK Sub Zero Driver (9*) and a Chrome Soft X Triple Track Golf Ball. He's earned two wins in 2020 with this driver/ball setup, and he has a mix of Epic Forged long irons, Apex MB 20 mid and short irons, PM Grind Wedges, and an Odyssey XG PM Putter in the bag today. Phil's partner is also using a MAVRIK Driver and MAVRIK Fairway Wood this afternoon.

Stephen Curry WITB

Here's a look at the equipment that Stephen Curry is using today in Arizona:

  • MAVRIK Sub Zero Driver (9*) - Fuji Ventus Blue 7X Shaft
  • MAVRIK Sub Zero Fairway Wood (13.5*) - Fuji Ventus Blue 8X Shaft
  • X Forged 21 Utility Iron (18*) - KBS Tour 130X Shaft
  • Apex Pro 19 Irons (4-PW) - Project X 6.5 Shafts
  • JAWS MD5 Wedges (50*, 56*, 60*) - Project X 6.0 Shaft (he was testing a 54* MD3 Milled that he's used in the past too, and it looks like the MD5 50, 56, 60 will be his setup today)
  • Odyssey Toulon Atlanta Putter (with Stroke Lab Shaft)
  • A 2020 Chrome Soft X Ball

The Howard University Golf Program

Callaway is proud to be the official equipment partner for Howard's University men's and women's golf programs - and their return to competition after 40 years. The Howard golf programs are being funded by Stephen Curry, and today's broadcast featured a short video on the teams' fittings for Callaway gear (link here).

The players were fitted by Mike Sposa, Callaway Sr. Manager - Junior, College & Development Tours. 'We had our PGA Tour equipment truck on site at TPC Sugarloaf for the Howard fitting,' Sposa said. 'With help from our local OSR and our Callaway NEXT Team, we were able to fit each player with the latest and greatest Callaway products! We had several TrackMan units and an extensive array of demo products for testing.'

Sposa continued, 'Several of the players had been using older product that was not optimal for them, so almost all of the players saw immediate improvement! Our involvement with Howard University golf teams are both rewarding (because we were able to help each player with product that was better for them) and an honor to help them as they get set for their first season in decades.'
