Carillion is just one of five companies to be named as a finalist in the award, which champions responsible business in the UK and abroad taking action to address social and environmental issues and transform their communities.

In the next stage of the awards, Richard Howson, Carillion Chief Executive and David Picton, Carillion Chief Sustainability Officer will present to a panel of industry experts and business leaders who will select as the winner, the company which best demonstrates significant impact and a strong business case.

Commenting on reaching the final stage of the Responsible Business of the Year Award, Richard Howson said: "We are delighted to have been named as a finalist. Responsible business is a cornerstone of Carillion's success as a leading support services company. It's what our customers and society expect, it keeps our people healthy and safe, it helps us to win and deliver profitable work, it protects our environment and it creates lasting, positive legacies in the communities where we work and live."

The overall winner of the Responsible Business of the Year Award will be announced in London at Business in the Community's Annual Responsible Business Gala Dinner on 7 July.
