Power Technology Inc. announced that it has developed a new dual input voltage power supply for operating Helium Neon lasers the SL45. The company's HeNe power supplies are among the most reliable and efficient in the photonics industry. The SL series provides outstanding performance coupled with high energy conversion technology.

The SL45, based on the company long standing history of designing HeNe lasers and laser systems is a current regulated, switching mode power supply that operates from AC input voltages of 100-130 and 200-260 VAC. This unit is fully potted in a molded case for protection from dust, moisture, and circuit access. One of the most substantial features of this new power supply is its smaller, compact size.

Compared to previous generation HeNe power supplies, the SL45 offers customers more flexibility in mounting options. Because it generates a relatively small amount of heat, the SL45 typically does not require heat sinking. Competing technologies provide a 75% conversion efficiency rate, whereas the SL45 provides more stability with a conversion efficiency rate greater than 80%.

A CDRH delay option is available for customers requiring a 5-second delay in the start of the laser tube. Customers also may choose an active filter option to further reduce ripple. In addition, the operating temperature range of the SL45 is -20 to +60°C in comparison with competing power supplies that operate at -20 to +55°C.
