A consortium led by China Southwest Architectural Design and Research Institute recently won the bid for the construction of the T3B Terminal, the fourth runway, and supporting facilities of Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport.

The institute is a subsidiary of China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC).

The project has a total contract value of 196 million yuan, including construction of the T3B Terminal, renovation and upgrading of the T3A Terminal, renovation of the GTC, and construction of parking facilities and hotels.

Construction of the T3B Terminal and its supporting facilities will be the last large-scale expansion project of Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, aiming at transforming the airport into a regional transportation hub capable of serving 80 million passengers per year.

The T3B Terminal building has a construction area of 350,000 square meters, and is designed to serve about 35 million travelers flying domestically. According to the project design, the T3B Terminal and the T3A Terminal will function in a collaborative fashion to optimize daily operation of the eastern terminal area of the airport. With more plane stands, effective airside operations, and passenger-friendly experience, the T3B and T3A terminals will promote the overall quality of service at the airport.

Apart from its technical advantages, the T3B Terminal project also has unique design that represents the spirit and regional culture of Chongqing. The design is inspired by the geographic and humanistic characteristics of the city, showcasing Chongqing's unique charm, and reflecting its relentless efforts in boosting regional economic growth and promoting prosperity.
