AURORA, Ill. (AP) _ Cabot Microelectronics Corp. (CCMP) on Wednesday reported a fiscal second-quarter loss of $149.8 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The Aurora, Illinois-based company said it had a loss of $5.13 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were $1.71 per share.

The chip equipment maker posted revenue of $290.5 million in the period.

Cabot shares have climbed 18% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $178.49, an increase of 47% in the last 12 months.
