Transelectrica announced earnings results for the first quarter of 2017. For the quarter, net profit fell 28% on the year to RON 71 million due to lower regulated transport tariffs and higher operating costs. EBITDA shrank 24% to RON 159 million during the period January-March, mainly as a result of decreasing revenues and increasing expenses. Revenues fell 5% on the year to RON 332 million in the first quarter, while total operating expenses rose 61% to RON 1.03 billion. The company's net profit fell 28% on the year to RON 71 million ($16.9 million/€15.6 million) in the first quarter of 2017, due to lower regulated transport tariffs and higher operating costs.
