Following the successful completion of the first and second phases of the land-based commissioning test of the power system of the 700TEU electric container vessel to operate on the Yangtze River mainline in Qingdao, the third phase of the tests was successfully completed on March 14. So far, the commissioning and testing of power system was successfully completed.

The 700TEU electric container vessel is the world's first large pure battery-powered container vessel for long-distance transportation, and commissioning of the power system was completed through 34-day cooperation among nearly 30 technicians from R&D, design, construction and inspection units. Through three stages of testing, the functional test and security test of each component equipment of the power system, and automatic/manual startup/stop and switching test of the system were successfully conducted with the expected results.

The 700TEU electric container vessel is a scientific research project of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for electric intelligent ships to operate on inland river. After many technical difficulties are overcome, development, design and manufacturing of the power system fills the technical gaps related to shipping in China. As the new technology and new application are implemented in the manufacturing of real-world vessels in shipping industry, 700TEU has brought valuable experience and solutions for the green zero carbon development of China's inland coastal shipping, and led the update and development of rules and industry standard of pure battery-powered green intelligent ship in China. 700TEU will also become the model for China's shipping industry to take the lead in practicing the national strategy of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality".
