ISA CTEEP ATTAINS ENVIRONMENTAL LICENSE FOR OPERATION OF TRÊS LAGOAS PROJECT
Environmental operating license, granted by Ibama, boosts the company's expectation of energizing the enterprise this semester

TheProject will benefit the National Interconnected System, as it will allow expanding the power flow generated from renewable sources

São Paulo, May 18, 2022 - Purchased in batch 6 of the transmission auction held in December 2019, the Três Lagoas (SP) project, under construction by ISA CTEEP, one of the main energy transmission companies in the country, received the Operating License issued by the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama), valid for ten years.

Overall, 37 km of transmission lines were built where the largest hydroelectric plant in the state of São Paulo is installed, starting from the Ilha Solteira substation, on the border of the states of Mato Grosso do Sul and São Paulo, to the Três Irmãos substation (SP), connecting the municipalities of Selvíria (MS), Ilha Solteira (SP), Itapura (SP) and Andradina (SP). With 3,444 MW of power, the hydroelectric complex will gain greater security and quality in power transmission to the regions of Mato Grosso and northwestern São Paulo.

The project will also benefit the National Interconnected System (SIN), as it aims to transfer power generation from renewable sources - solar and biomass - to consumer centers in the Northwestern region of the state of São Paulo, contributing to the expansion of cleaner power in the country. Annually, ISA CTEEP is responsible for connecting 22 GW of renewable sources to consumption centers, equivalent to the sum generated by the Itaipu and Belo Monte plants.

The project nears completion and should be energized this semester. The investment foreseen by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) is R$ 99 million and the Allowed Annual Revenue (RAP) is R$ 6 million in the period 2021-2022.

During the works, the company used techniques to reduce the environmental impact, such as the use of drones to launch cables in environmentally sensitive stretches of overhead lines and increasing the height of transmission towers to preserve native vegetation, in addition to development of Environmental Education and Social Communication Programs with surrounding communities throughout the period.

"We prioritize the generation of sustainable value for society. And we can say that this project stands out for its positive impact on the environment, as it expands the power flow from renewable sources of photovoltaic and biomass thermal plants", explains Dayron Urrego, executive projects officer at ISA CTEEP.
Três Lagoas Project

With a staff around 1,400 employees, ISA CTEEP operates in 17 Brazilian States, operating a complex transmission network, responsible for the flowing of 30% of all electricity consumed in the country, and 92% in the State of São Paulo. Its electric system comprises over 21 thousand kilometers of transmission lines and 137 substations (assets in operation and under construction) up to 550 kV voltage. Its main shareholder is Colombian company ISA, which holds 35.82% of the total capital.
