Daewoo E&C (CEO Baek Jeong-wan) and SK Eco Plant (CEO Park Gyeong-il) signed a 'Business Agreement for Mutual Cooperation in Offshore Wind Power Generation Project' at Daewoo E&C's headquarters on Monday, the 30th.

Attending the agreement ceremony on this day were Kim Yong-hae, head of Daewoo E&C's civil engineering division, Jo Jung-sik, CEO of SK Eco Plant's Eco Solutions BU, and wind power business executives and officials from both companies. Based on this agreement, both sides agreed to jointly participate in the development and EPC of offshore wind power generation projects and to hold regular operating consultation meetings to discuss specific collaboration plans.

Daewoo E&C is strengthening its capabilities in the field of wind power generation by establishing a wind power business TFT within the Civil Engineering Division, and is building a number of projects at home and abroad, including the Al-Faw breakwater in Iraq, the world's longest breakwater, and the Geoga Bridge immersed tunnel installed in the world's deepest water. It has the best maritime infrastructure construction capabilities in Korea, including successfully carrying out large-scale maritime construction. Starting with the Sihwa Lake Tidal Power Plant, Daewoo E&C has completed new and renewable energy projects such as Jeju tangerine solar power generation, and is currently nearing completion of the Yeongwol wind power complex. In addition, Incheon Gulup is also participating in a number of onshore and offshore wind power projects, including offshore wind power.

SK Eco Plant has a business model in all fields, including renewable energy business development such as offshore wind power, equipment production, and green hydrogen production. It has SK Ocean Plant, a manufacturer of offshore wind power infrastructure, as a subsidiary and is currently developing a total of 3.8GW offshore wind power projects in five regions, including Ulsan and Jeonnam. Recently, it became the first Korean company to sign a priority supply contract to carry out the transportation and installation project for 'Anma Offshore Wind Power', a 500 MW offshore wind power project. The CEO of SK Eco Plant was also appointed as the chairman of the Korea Wind Power Industry Association in recognition of his representativeness, including completing the value chain in all areas of offshore wind power.

Offshore wind power, whose market is expanding recently, is a business that requires high-difficulty offshore construction and the timely deployment of production and installation vessels, such as main equipment and sub-foundations. Therefore, it is expected that Daewoo Engineering & Construction, which has experience in carrying out large-scale offshore construction, and SK Eco Plant, which owns a sub-foundation manufacturing company and is seeking to secure shares in ships dedicated to offshore wind power, will collaborate to secure synergy. Daewoo E&C and SK Eco Plant officials said, 'According to the 10th Power Supply and Demand Plan, a target of approximately 14GW of offshore wind power is set by 2030, so many offshore wind power PJs are being promoted, and the wind power industry will benefit from the collaboration between Daewoo E&C and SK Eco Plant. He expressed his ambition to become a leading company.'
